Gorm Ile Self Catering is situated in a lovely and peaceful residential area of Port Ellen, Islay’s second largest village. Port Ellen can be found in the south of Islay and has all transport links nearby. The Calmac ferry terminal is at walking distance, Islay airport is 4 miles away and buses leave from Port Ellen to most other places on the island. Port Ellen is an excellent base for exploring Islay.
Our Self Catering house is a mid terraced house in Mansefield Road, less than 200 metres from the beach, co-op supermarket, post office and several restaurants. The house sleeps four adults in two bedrooms, one with double bed and one with single beds. A cot and high chair is available. The house is well equipped.
The property is also ideally situated for visiting many local attractions and sights some of which are: 3 Main Distilleries – Ardbeg, Lagavulin & Laphroaig (Alan has worked at Laphroaig for over 36 years and can take you on a personal guided tour at no extra cost!). Other attractions are The Machrie Golf Course, Local Playing Fields – Tennis Court, Pitch & Putt, Bowling, new Play Park Area for Children, Bike Hire, Pony Trekking, RSPB Reserve at The Oa – Golden Eagles, Choughs, Geese, Monument at The Oa, Carraig Fhada Lighthouse, Numerous Beaches – closest being Leodamus Bay – 2 minute walk and the historically important Kildalton Cross. All within 4/5 mile radius of Port Ellen including the ‘3 Distillery Footpath’ (cycle/pedestrian) between Port Ellen and Ardbeg.
